This term Year 3 will be looking at Rocks and Soils. To kick start our topic we did an experiment to identify the properties of some rocks. We worked in groups to test how hard the rocks were and how permeable. We recorded our results in a table.

The children in Year 2 have been learning about what they need to do in order to stay healthy as part of our current Science topic. Today the children found a spider which caused great excitement. 'I can see its eyes', 'its so huge' 'its amazing' 'that's massive' ' Its super creepy' were just some of the comments from the children. The spider inspired a day full of spider activities and language.
The Forest School group have been working extra hard over the past two weeks. They were sorting and classifying animals themselves and giving the groups titles. They created lots of super ideas, for example, "has 2 legs" and "has more than two legs".

The Forest School after school club continued to develop our new Family Garden area. The children worked together developing their team skills to fill the new planters with soil. The after school club are asking for donations of old children's Wellington boots for a secret project.
The Year 5 and 6 Forest School after school club, spent the lesson looking for stones, for a project that we will be undertaking. During Forest School after school club we had a delivery of tyres from 'Parkers Tyres and Autocare' (190 Rochdale road behind Middleton Cars). Forest school after school club was rather wet this afternoon, but it did not stop the children being busy. They all had fun working together, pulling up the weeds from the flower bed ready for planting .
Year 2 enjoyed a fantastic day at Blackpool Zoo!
We had great fun learning about a range of different animals from all around the world!
The children especially enjoyed the interactive talk with a Zoo leader which was all about Australian animals!
