Today, Year 4 went to Pizza Express in Manchester. They learned about how dough is made and had a go at kneading it and stretching it to make a pizza base. After that, they spread passata over the base and added mozzarella. The chef at Pizza Express explained how the very first Margherita pizza was made 500 years ago and how it was named after the Queen at the time. It was made in a place called Naples in Italy and the ingredients the restaurant uses are still taken from this region of Italy today. The volcanic earth there makes the tomatoes extra sharp and tasty!
All the children are bringing their delicious pizzas home tonight to share with their families! Enjoy year 4!
